At Victoria Falls Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe, an unusual encounter unfolded when a warthog boldly approached a resting crocodile at the water’s edge. Instead of cautiously avoiding the predator, the hog seemed intent on investigating, with a small bird faithfully shadowing its every move—almost like a companion offering moral support.

The warthog circled the area, snuffling along a trail that led it straight to the crocodile. Rather than fleeing, it began to taunt the reptile by tossing wet mud with its snout and tusks. The crocodile remained still, watching silently as the hog crept closer, seemingly daring it to react.

Eventually, the croc snapped its massive jaws in irritation, startling the warthog into a hasty retreat. Though the clash was brief, the spectacle highlighted the unpredictable behavior of wildlife—where even a warthog and its feathered “ally” can challenge one of Africa’s most fearsome predators, if only for a moment.
