An unusual wildlife encounter was recently captured at a dam near Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, where a persistent crocodile targeted a herd of elephants. The scenes, filmed by Africam’s live cameras, show the croc repeatedly attempting to grab the elephants’ trunks as they drank from the waterhole.

Elephants are usually too large and powerful for crocodiles to attack, but their trunks remain a vulnerable target. In one tense moment, the croc managed to latch onto an elephant’s trunk, causing panic among the herd. The elephant shook the predator off, but the croc wasn’t done.
As the day turned to night, the crocodile continued his attempts, lurking in the water and snapping at any elephant brave enough to approach. Though unsuccessful in his hunt, the croc made one thing clear — when it comes to the water’s edge, he’s in charge.
