The miracle of life never ceases to amaze, and for every kill in the bushveld, somewhere, there is a birth. Conrad witnessed this beautiful zebra foal coming in to the world.
It arrived spindly-limbed and off balance, but in the presence of its mother’s devotion and love.
In the very first hours of its life, a foal will learn to recognise its mother by her unique smell, stripe patterns and vocalisations. To others looking into the herd, all of the adult zebras might appear similar, however not to the foal. The foal will know which zebra is its mother is right from the beginning. Her smell, her stripes and her voice will be unique in all of the bushveld to the little zebra.
