Safari guests were treated to a touching sight when an African elephant herd stopped moving to protect a sleeping calf.
The exhausted youngster had collapsed beneath a tree for a nap, and the adults quietly formed a loose circle around it. Some stood watch while others gently touched the calf with their trunks.
For nearly an hour, the herd remained patient and calm until the baby finally woke up and rejoined the group.
