A distressed baby African elephant became trapped in thick mud after trying to cross a drying waterhole. Despite repeated attempts, the exhausted calf couldn’t free itself while its worried mother stood nearby.
Wildlife rangers quickly arrived with ropes and carefully dug away the mud surrounding the calf. Working patiently, they slowly guided the frightened youngster back onto solid ground.
The emotional rescue ended with the calf running straight back to its mother, who greeted it with gentle trunk touches before the herd disappeared into the bush.
