I live in Asia and monitor lizards are not that rare in the suburbs, You might get one wandering into your yard once every couple of years, They are no match for local dog breeds (medium-sized) which will attack immediately once they catch a whiff of one though.
If it’s just one dog, the lizard will usually manage to escape, But if it’s two (or more) they’ll just alternate leaping in and out from different directions until the lizard is completely exhausted and shredded.
I’ve heard they have some species of monitors in Florida along with all of the other invasive species, Seems like they could help with the large snakes but seeing this the monitors may be more problematic than the snakes.
