Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was reportedly spotted eating a specially prepared meal at Nusret Gökçe’s Nusr-Et steakhouse in Istanbul, where he is a celebrity chef and butcher sensation.
On his way back from a trip to China to solicit investment and obtain money for Venezuela, Maduro stopped in Turkey for a quick break.
He may be seen in the movies puffing on a cigar from a personalized box while he and first lady Cilia Flores watch Gökçe, who is dressed in black aviator glasses and a bicep-busting T-shirt, rhythmically dance his hips while carving a delicious steak with a long knife.
The films were shared on Gökçe’s Instagram account, which has 16 million followers, amid photographs of him servicing clients including Argentine soccer icon Diego Maradona and posing as Don Corleone from the “Godfather” flicks.
Maduro described the meal as a “once-in-a-lifetime occasion” and complimented Gökçe for his generosity, saying he wanted to see him again in Caracas soon.
After receiving outrage from Maduro detractors who blame his leadership for the country’s dire economic crisis, Gökçe later withdrew the photographs and a thank you message to him.
Presidents Maduro and Recep Tayyip Erdogan have strengthened economic and political connections, particularly since the United States placed sanctions on both nations.
Maduro dressed up as an Ottoman horseman during a previous visit to Istanbul in July when he visited the set of the popular Turkish TV series “Resurrection: Natural,” which the Venezuelan leader said he watched back home.
